VOIP phone service trends have slowed recently. This is mostly due to consumer fears that VOIP phone services do not have the same network coverage as traditional landline or cell phone services. This is not the case at all! In fact VOIP network areas are rapidly increasing daily.
VOIP phone service is directly competing with traditional landline services. Many large and small local companies are providing VOIP services, especially as the network size increases and the demand for VOIP rises. Larger metropolitan areas tend to have better VOIP coverage compared to more rural areas. However, as the networks continue to grow more consumers will be able to take advantage of VOIP networks no matter where they live.
There are a wide variety of networks available; but it varies by area. While Vonage has one of the largest networks and widest area of coverage, Skype and VoiceGlo aren’t far behind. There are also other, smaller companies not mentioned here that continue to try to compete for a market share.
VOIP phones work on the “Wi-Fi” network system. In other words, if you can connect to the Internet at a particular location, then you can connect with a VOIP phone in that same place. This could be in your car, office, or even on your backyard swing. And the number of areas where a VOIP phone can be used will only continue to increase, as cities and towns implement their plans to make “Wi-Fi” available for free. Pretty soon, you will see people on VOIP phones in the grocery store or at the doctor.
VOIP at home is incredibly easy to use. Once the software is purchased and downloaded, the VOIP phone will operate exactly as an old-fashioned phone (except you’ll be using your keyboard instead). Your only cost is the initial investment for the service. The one caveat is that you can only communicate with others who have the same software. And that’s not even going to be an issue as more and more people buy into the VOIP system. Everyone is looking for ways to save money these days; but noone wants to compromise when it comes to quality.
VOIP phones act just like the land lines of old. The fact that your phone line actually runs through a computer is the genius and the innovation of VOIP service. You don?t have to worry about what time of the day or night that you are using the phone. You don?t have to be concerned about yammering on too long with a good buddy. There is no charge for long distance and no concern about running up the phone bill. Billing is a straightforward charge for the original service followed by typical provider billing through your home phone.
VOIP networks will soon overtake cell phone networks in efficiency. Not long into the future the same will be true for traditional phones as well.
