With many television stations changing to high definition, consumers are more and more shopping for new televisions. LCD or Liquid Crystal Display is becoming a popular option for shoppers. A LCD tv utilizes a flat panel TV and liquid crystals to create the picture that a viewer sees. This technology is the same type as used for cell telephones or monitors. A brand presently on the market is the Sony LCD TV.

The liquid crystal display type of television or the LCD is constructed with two layers of a glass like material. These layers are then polarized and caught together. One of the layers is covered in a polymer layer that has single liquid crystals on it. Electricity is sent through the crystals. The crystals either allow the light to pass or block it out. This process creates the image we see today on televisions.

One of the companies that bring excellence to its name in the electronics arena is Sony. Sony has remained top notch for their products as well as their wonderful customer support. Sony no longer manufactures plasma screen televisions. They concentrate their efforts on the LCD type. Sony has two types of these systems.

Sony introducted a LCD high definition units in 2008. It has a thin silver unit with a base that swivels. These displays are made to have better resolutions and top audio. These models have back lighting but the biggest feature of this line of televisions is that the black colors are blacker more like the plasma screen units. It is difficult to beat plasma with an LCD but this model comes close.

Compact rear projection is the benefit of having the other unit. These are traditionally fifty and sixty inch widescreens. There are pluses and minuses with this system. Most people feel this type of television has a better picture than its counterpart. It is affordable and had super color.

Others say despite the great picture, the lamp in the rear projection model starts flickering about thirty percent of into its life span. There have been complaints about the lamp burning out completely. A consumer needs to do complete research into purchasing a unit.

Sony has a reputation that has been built on bringing to the public numerous innovative and outstanding electronic products. The company has a great reputation also for their outstanding customer service. The Sony LCD TV cannot be beat. It’s affordable to most families. It has an outstanding picture. It is a brand most people feel is excellent and a great value. The Sony name alone brings a feeling of trust to the consumer.
