Many viruses can infect your registry file, invalid entries can build up which cause your system to run slowly, and errors can cause operating problems, computer freezing and other system errors. There are three different options for backing up your registry file. These vary in their difficulty but the end result is that you’ve got a backup of one of the most critical parts of your computer. One is to create something called a systems restore point. You want to do this at a time when your system is running well.

The system will automatically back up your system and the code to do this is %SystemRoot%system32restorerstrui.exe. Which looks like a lot of gobbledegook to mere humans like us but makes perfect sense to your computer (which explains a lot about how computers think and view things!).

While you should not alter any of the registry lines as this can corrupt your system. However you can use this tool to easily and quickly back up your registry file. Then if a problem should occur you can restore the registry file to a working copy.

There is also 3rd party software available that can be used to cleanup and back up your registry file. This software will scan your current registry file and get rid of any infections, errors or invalid code within the file. It can also be used to back up your registry file on a recurring basis. Registry cleaner software is very easy to use and you can back up your registry file instantly.
