Signs of Life: A generations old boat making business in Maine closes its doors, and the workers, youthful and old, who’ve exhausted their lives there, try to decide out what to do next. Cast includes Arthur Kennedy, Kevin J. O’Connor, Vincent Phillip D’Onofrio, Michael Lewis, Fellow Bridges, Kate Reid, Kathy Bates, Mary-Louise Parker, and Georgia Engei. (91 minutes, 1989)
The Big Trees: Viciously ambitious lumberman Douglas runs afoul of a religious sect and nearly everybody else around him in this cornball outdoor melodrama. Thief of Baghdad: Reeves looks for the elusive blue rose so he could wed the Sultan’s baby girl. This is nothing like the Sabu rendition, although this is a good piece of work. Cast includes Steve Reeves, Giorgia Moll, Arturo Dominici, and Edy Vessel. (90 minutes, 1961)
Play it as it Lays: film rendition of Joan Didion’s best-seller in reference to the neglected spouse of a selfish film director is helped by Weld and Perkins. Cast includes Tuesday Weld, Anthony Perkins, Tammy Dirties, Adam Roarke, Ruth Ford, and Eddie Firestone. (100 minutes, 1984)
Repo Man: Immediate cult-film in regards to a new wave delinquent who takes a job recouping automobiles. Mixes satire and science fiction with involving outcomes, albeit a little of this film goes a long way. Stanton is perfect as a repo guy who shows Estevez the business. The Sea Hawk: Top of the line amalgamation with Flynn at his streaking best in venture on the high oceans.
